The Under 18 girls event at the Victorian Junior Surf Series saw a new champion crowned with Phillip Island’s Shayla Paterson

THE Opening round of the Victorian Junior Series pre-
sented by HIF kicked off over the weekend in 3-4 foot surf
In the Under 18 boys division Henry Hutchins (Barwon
Heads) took out the final on his backhand with a heat total
of 15.66 (out of a possible 20).
Tully Wylie (Jan Juc, 13.93pts) and Josh Bracher (San
Remo, 13.93pts) took out second and third position with
local boy Gully Steelhead (St Andrews Beach, 11.23pts)
taking fourth position.
Xavier Huxtable (Jan Juc) dominated the Under 16 boys
final with a total of 16.06 over Chad Garrett (Phillip Island,
Jackson Kay (Jan Juc, 10.53pts) and Cole Fox (Jan Juc,
9.30pts) taking out second, third and fourth respectably.
The Under 14 boys was a much closer affair with Codie
Jeffery (Phillip Island) scoring a total of 14.47 getting the
win over Max Burton who scored 13.24.
Ethan Huxtable (Jan Juc, 13.03pts) and Patrick Hughes
(Jan Juc, 10.10pts) took out the third and fourth spots.
