WESTERNPORT Field and Game held
its monthly clay target shoot on March
13, 2016 with 54 shooters enjoying the
ambience of the beautiful grounds.
Twelve months ago the club lost a great
committee member, Mark Brenton, and
the March shoot was a memorial and
tribute to Mark.
The day consisted of 75 targets, three
rounds of 25.
Sponsor for the day was ‘Into Shoot-
ing’ with the raffle donated by the club.
High Gun was awarded to Doug
McLeod with a score of 69.
Grade winners: AA Grade: 1st - Fred
Botica (69), 2nd - Rob Passarin (68), 3rd

Clay target shooting is suitable for all
ages and fitness levels and juniors do
not pay nomination fees to shoot.

WITH an unfavourable low tide and
strong swell, this group of Phillip Is-
land’s top developing surfers were met
with some challenging conditions at Cape
Eleven boys joined the Surfing Victoria
team, featuring professional WQS surfers
Cahill Bell-Warren and Tristan Forras, for
a high performance surf coaching session.
Before the program even hit the water,

participants were involved in a dramatic
rescue of two swimmers from a life threat-

for the duo, who had been dragged from
the shallow sandbank until Forras and
others assisted in returning the endan-
gered swimmers to the shore.
The rescue was an excellent indicator of
the role that surfers play in the chain of

The #isurfwith Victorian Tour presented by Play It Safe by The Water arrived
on Phillip Island last Tuesday. Participants were involved in a real life rescue,
while in the middle of being instructed on how to carry out one.
On Thursday, March 3, the first
games for the month went to Manny
Bonnic with 7 wins and Midge Monk
with 6 wins.
Then last week, Margaret Dean cel-
ebrated a significant birthday by win-
ning all 8 games.

he’s only a youngster.
