Voices for Monash set a fresh pace

After a whirlwind campaign the independent movement in the seat of Monash, Voices for Monash hits the ground running with a refreshed steering committee, building on the successful work of the former team.

At the AGM held on July 26, enthusiasm ran high as members were inspired by the face of Australian politics, now changed by the independent movement.

Previous hard work paid off during the four-month local community campaign with Monash becoming a marginal seat!

New Voices for Monash President, Fiona McKenzie said, “I was inspired to become part of the movement for political change when I discovered Voices for Monash and was then so impressed by the success of the independent candidate, Deb Leonard, at the federal election that I jumped at the chance to be on the committee to help keep the momentum going.”

The newly appointed committee is made up of energetic and engaged community members who have a passion to work together to have the voices of the community heard by our political representatives.

It says its next steps are to share the vision of Voices for Monash more broadly in the electorate and provide opportunities for community members to get involved.

The committee is setting a fresh pace moving forward; with its first task being to renew the group’s vision and develop a plan to enhance the movement by continuing to tap into the concerns and views of the people of Monash.

“An exciting three years lies ahead till the next election,” said Fiona.
