The Block arrives
1 min read

Producers of The Block this weekend visited the Vietnam Veterans Museum and Berrys Beach to shoot promotional footage, with filming of the reality TV show officially starting last Friday (March 1).

Yesterday the production crew spent the day with hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft around Phillip Island, with all five couples also arriving at the Justice Road property to start building and be part of the promo.

Today (Sunday) the crew are resting before the three-month filming resumes, with the show tipped to air after the Olympics on Channel 9.

The Advertiser had an exclusive interview with creator and executive producer of The Block Julian Cress who confirmed local tradies and businesses would be used in the production.

“Basically this will be a 60 hour commercial for Phillip Island,” Julian said.

“We will be pumping a lot of money into the local economy.”

Mr Cress confirmed The Block would once again feature a pop-up McDonald’s, and he also addressed resident questions around the quick planning permit turnaround for Justice Road, as well as detailing his own personal connection with Phillip Island.

It is believed there are no local residents among the five teams.
