Midweek at Corinella
Bowlers arrived at Corinella Bowls Club for our weekly challenge to be greeted by rain and a very wet green.
They were signed in by John Nicholson while Bev and Vern Elliott arranged the teams for the day.
Once the teams were organised the players went out onto the green after the brief rain delay.
Thankfully the rain cleared and play continued uninterrupted for the whole day.
The initial wet conditions resulted in a very fast green and extremely wide biases however this improved as the day proceeded.
After a very competitive day of bowling the following teams prevailed.
Winners on a score of 38, winning 10 ends in the afternoon session were: Ken Barnes (2), Bob Arnold (L), Neil Andreatta (3) and Mark Hanrahan (S).
Runners up on a score of 36 were: Raff Merante (3), Ron Hughes (L) and Louis Magri (S).
Best One Game today on a score of 19 was won by: John Nicholson (S), Max
Summers (3), Lou Capsalis (2) and Gary McAllister (L).
A big thank you to the Corinella members for all their efforts in the kitchen preparing the morning tea and cleaning up afterwards and to Phil Wright for setting up the green.
Also, thanks to Terry Floyd and Steve Bray for their very responsible work behind the bar keeping the thirsty bowlers happy.
A special mention goes to Laurie Bell who has requested some assistance after five years of continuous writing of these weekly articles.
As a result, we will now have a number of different scribes supporting Laurie on a weekly basis.
.
Next week we will be meeting at Koo Wee Rup Bowls Club for the weekly challenge.
Please be on site by 10am to allow time to prepare the teams.
Unfortunately, with numbers generally reaching capacity, there is a strict 10am cut off time.
Until then, have fun and stay safe.
