A Cool World at the winery

Phillip Island Winery is the setting for a unique musical experience on November 20.
Renowned Australian singer-songwriter, musician and producer Ross Wilson is bringing his Cool World tour to the island, with special guests The Badloves and King Canyon.
The show is part of a six-date regional tour, but this is a tour with a difference – a tour that is helping to “cool the world” one gig at a time.
Ross Wilson is encouraging the touring music industry to embrace sustainable events.
This tour, he is taking a green approach, partnering with Green Music Australia, a fully registered charity created to harness the power of the music scene to create a greener, safer future.
Thinking green, the shows will be held during the day, with a limit on numbers, plastic bottle free and the bands and crew will travel in electric vehicles.
Music
Many Australians have enjoyed countless years of Ross Wilson’s live music events, including Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock.
The Cool World tour is headlined by Ross Wilson & the Peaceniks, who will be celebrating 50 years of Eagle Rock and performing all the hits from Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock that have become the playlist of our lives. Eagle Rock, Come Said the Boy, Chemistry, Come Back Again, Cool World …
Iconic Australian band The Badloves deliver a full set of hits including Green Limousine, Lost, The Weight, Caroline, Memphis, Barefoot Bride and their latest singles Tribal and Midnight Sun.
Opening the show is Melbourne blues/rock outfit King Canyon. Since forming in 2020 the band has already released seven singles which have all been embraced by radio, with their latest single Gravity entering the independent charts.
Thinking green
As Ross continues to entertain fans, he is taking a greener approach and encouraging all other musicians to consider a more sustainable way to tour and entertain.
“In the past, we like all musicians, were oblivious to the large footprint we would create when touring, including flying between cities, using large tour trucks, and at events, drawing on significant use of power for lighting and production,” Ross said.

“We and the audience were drinking from plastic water bottles, using plastic straws and food utensils, and leaving large rubbish piles of unconsumed waste.
“I want to be a part of this important change as we forge a new way forward to entertain, with the objective to leave a minimal footprint after each event.
“As Aussie musicians start to embrace this responsible movement, the Cool World tour is also contributing to setting a new template for the music industry. It’s important to ensure the industry not only continues to strive post the pandemic, but for fans to continue to enjoy shows, knowing they too are a part of embracing a new sustainable way to hold events.”
The Badloves lead singer Michael Spiby added: “It was always a nagging feeling when touring, that there seemed to be endless consumption and waste, with no regard to our environment”.
“Now, being a part of this exciting Cool World tour, I can take a breath and feel like I am part of the huge movement of responsible people working towards a positive change in how we care for our surrounds and safeguard the future for the younger generation to enjoy the music industry.”
The Ross Wilson Cool World tour is now taking all parts of their touring and shows into consideration and have partnered with Green Music Australia– implementing sections of their Green Artist Guide, Sound Country, for their upcoming shows.
What will be different? Performances will be at regional wineries, with a cap of only 500 people per event and held during the day to lessen the need for lighting and electricity demand.
Band members are travelling to and from the venues by electric cars, kindly donated (whenever possible) by The Good Car Company, an affordable electric car company.
Wineries are enthusiastically embracing this cause and will provide water refill stations, therefore not selling plastic water bottles, and will be using local providores to supply food etc.
The tour will donate $2 from each ticket sale to Green Music, as well as $1 per ticket sale to Support Act. This commitment will continue for future Ross Wilson Cool Music events too.
Come and enjoy an intimate afternoon of classic hits, wine, beer, cider and food with oz rock royalty set amongst the glorious vines at the Phillip Island Winery.
