A riot of colour raises thousands for school library
Cowes Primary School held its Colour Fun Run fundraiser last Friday.
Talk about colour and movement! There was plenty of both as Cowes Primary School held its Colour Fun Run fundraiser last Friday.
Smashing their original goal of $5000 before the run even started, the school community has so far raised over $47,000, with money still coming in.
School Council member, and fun run organiser Katrina Knight said she was “blown away” with the results.
“We’re so excited and we’ll definitely be doing this again.
“It wasn’t intended as a massive fundraiser. It was more of a reward for the kids after having such a tough two years.
“It’s just been amazing with the fundraising. Some kids have earned over $2000 for us.”
The fun run, organised by the School Council fundraising committee, Katrina, Carly McShane and Lorey Sheers, has raised money for the school’s library.
“We’re going to have an amazing library once this is done,” said Katrina.

“We’re really looking forward to restocking and updating everything in it including assisted learning books that will cater for every age group and every ability.”
The committee was so blown away by the children’s fundraising efforts they introduced an extra element of fun into the day.
The most successful fundraiser would get to slime a teacher!
“We thought we’d better reward the kids even more for doing so well with their fundraising,” Katrina said.
Principal Rod McKenzie and Vice Principal Sarah Tyrrell gamely offered themselves up for the slime challenge, with Sarah being slimed by Ziggy Wagner, the school’s most successful fundraiser.
The fun on the day included an obstacle course, bubbles and a rain shower tent with students running through colour powder stations, while parents and teachers sprayed them with coloured powder.
It was a colourful, crazy and very successful day.
