The Arts Society Phillip Island Region will be holding their first Cup Weekend Exhibition since 2019.
This weekend the Arts Society Phillip Island Region (ASPIR) will be holding their first Cup Weekend Exhibition since 2019.
This exciting Exhibition will be held in the foyer of the wonderful new Performing Arts Building at Newhaven College. Newhaven College also hosted ASPIR for the Easter Exhibition this year, and the Society is very grateful for this support.
Members have entered nearly 200 works to be judged in the categories, Best Contemporary (any medium), Best Painting, Best Other Medium, Best 3D, Best Digital Artwork/Photography.
Awards will be awarded in each and highly commended in each category.
The November exhibition also includes junior art awards. Committee member Jan Taylor works with art teachers from local primary schools to encourage young people to participate, enjoy and enter an Art Show. This year the subject will be portraits.
The exhibition opening will be held on Friday October 28 starting at 7pm. Parking will be in front of the Centre and everyone is welcome.
Judging will be on Friday afternoon and winners of all awards will be announced at the opening. This year a very experienced judge, Regina Hona will consider entries in all categories and judge winners.
A local experiences raffle will be held over the weekend with prizes generously donated: Pet Portrait by Lori Head, meal voucher Wooli Tavern, Super Cruzer E bike ride, Skin Spa (Her), Mr Grumpy mini golf.
Appreciation goes to the wonderful sponsors, some longstanding and some new. The success of the exhibition relies on the support of these businesses and it is hoped they are supported by all: Bendigo Bank Cowes, Phillip Island RSL, Alex Scott Real Estate, Philip Island Winery and Westernport Hotel, Brinnie T Design/Lightique.
ASPIR has welcomed many new members each month and it will be exciting to see their talents and of course the wonderful work of our members.
The Exhibition will be open on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st.
