Ava’s big chop for cancer
Year 3 student Ava has donated her two 40cm long plaits to make wigs for kids with cancer, as well as raising over $2700.

Ava Mannix, a Year three student at Newhaven College, recently had her beautiful long hair cut to support sick children.

On June 10, Ava’s two 40cm long plaits were cut off by the girls at Elements Hair Room in Rhyll, and donated to make wigs for kids with cancer.

Alongside the “big chop”, Ava has been fundraising for the Kids with Cancer Foundation, so far raising $2700, more than double her initial $1000 goal.

Her mum Luci said Ava was grateful to everyone that donated to the cause.

“She is so happy these funds will go towards helping families of kids with cancer.”
