B Grade girls go down with a fight
Final score: PI 31 def by Tooradin 55.
This week saw a top of the table clash between 1st place Tooradin and 2nd place Phillip Island.
A win important for both teams at this final stage of the season.
The sun was out, and the ants were in the kitchen.
Knowing what was on the line for the B Graders, a win was what they wanted, and a win was they needed.
With a determined attitude they took to the court knowing they were going to be in for an incredibly tough 60 minutes of netball.
From the first whistle to the quarter time whistle, every single possession was important for both teams with it going goal for goal until Tooradin took a one goal lead at the quarter break.
The second quarter saw much of the same.
Intensity was high and the pressure was on, Tooradin slowly drawing a small lead to go into half time six goals up.
The Island girls knew the second half was going to be one of their hardest thus far this season.
They needed to come out firing, giving it their all.
Although they did this, Tooradin were also thinking the same thing.
They were able to find another gear that the Island just could not, going into the three-quarter break with a steady lead.
In true B Grade style, the girls gave it their all, fought hard till the end and worked tirelessly as a team.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough against an incredibly talented Tooradin team.
Despite it not being their day, the Islanders take many positives from the game and will dust themselves off, regroup and focus with positive mindsets for the remainder of the season.
