With the official Barry Sheene Ride on hold, Shane Power, Rozz and Steve Busana, Brian Andjelkovic, Leanne and Andrew Busana and Tom and Kayleen Berry held their own unofficial tribute, riding from Bairnsdale to Phillip Island

Traditionally the Barry Sheene Ride marks the start of a weekend of GP entertainment, with hundreds of riders travelling together from Bairnsdale to Phillip Island,

Every year, school children and onlookers delight in the spectacle, lining the streets to wave on the riders as they pass through towns and villages.

It is an integral part of the GP celebrations and over 9000 participants have completed the ride in its history.

This year would have been the 18th edition of the tribute ride.

Unfortunately an official Barry Sheene Ride 2020 could not be held, due to COVID-19 but a small group of fans from rural Victoria decided to get together for an unofficial ride.

Starting in Bairnsdale and following the usual route, they made their way to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in honour of the late Barry Sheene.

Barry, a two-time Grand Prix winner passed away in 2003 of cancer and a ride in his honour has been held in the lead up to the Phillip Island Motorcycle GP every year since.

We all hope the ride will be back to normal in 2021.
