In his closing address over two days this week, defence counsel Ashley Halphen said there was no doubting Mr Basham had “conducted himself poorly from time to time”. Mr Halphen called on the jury to judge with their heads and not their hearts, to consider the evidence “clinically, intellectually, and dispassionately without prejudice or favour”.
