Year 7 Girls Soccer. Sports are a popular part of Bass Coast College life, with many teams reaching state level competition.

Bass Coast College (BCC) seeks to create a challenging learning environment that encourages success, while catering for individual differences and learning styles.

The two junior campuses, San Remo and Dudley cater to students from years 7 to 9. Students are offered engaging programs across all learning areas.

Sequential courses of study are provided for year 7-10 in each of the key learning domains. From Year 9 students study core subjects and have choice of electives from Arts, Technology and STEM. The curriculum is constantly being developed and refreshed to meet student, community and workplace expectations. An exciting new AFL academy subject is being offered at year 10 in 2023.

The senior Wonthaggi campus caters to years 10-12. VEC and the new VCEVM are course options for students. To enhance student enrichment students in year 10 and 11 have the opportunity to accelerate through VCE by taking higher level units than is the norm for their age cohort.

Some students enter workplace partnerships.

FLOW is Bass Coast College’s flexible learning campus and supports students who are unable to attend a mainstream campus. The dedicated team there work with students to develop student learning confidence and create a positive relationship with education.

Various systems have been introduced to help students post-pandemic.

The Tutor Learning Initiative has supported groups of students who may not have made the expected learning growth during the pandemic. BCC has teacher tutors who work with classroom teachers to develop individualised learning programs for students to help them progress. The Tutor Learning initiative is offered from year 7-12.

The College also offers SEAL a select entry accelerated program beginning at year 7. Supported literacy and numeracy classes are also offered.

BCC prides itself on building student relationships and creating positive pathways for students, with a strong focus on student wellbeing and personal development. Each campus has an experienced wellbeing team with a school nurse and mental health practitioner.

This year BCC has partnered with Live4Life to train all year 8 students in mental health first aid.

BCC understands that all students have different needs, abilities, interests and ambitions. The staff are dedicated professional educators who place importance on quality teaching and professional development.

Students can participate in a range of extracurricular activities. Sports are always popular with many teams reaching state level competition, the music program is ever expanding having added voice tuition and choir in 2022. Theatrical students can join the bi-annual whole college production or challenge themselves at Tournament of Minds competitions. Camps and excursions are part of all year levels and accentuate the curriculum.

Extensive recreational facilities are available at all campuses. The College also enjoys access to the local natural environment for outdoor activities.

Our first year open as Bass Coast College has flown by and we’re proud to be welcoming a record enrolment for 2023. For enrolment enquiries please contact the relevant campus.
