Bass Coast’s Seniors Festival celebrations
Council has launched its program for the upcoming Victorian Seniors Festival.
Bass Coast Shire Council has launched its program for the upcoming Victorian Seniors Festival – a vibrant celebration for our senior community members.
This festival supports and celebrates the diverse contributions of people aged over 60, of which there are more than one million who call Victoria home.
This year’s Victorian Seniors Festival, part of a Victorian Government initiative, promises to be an exciting one, with all 79 councils coming together under the theme Learn, Love, Live, to celebrate the vibrancy and community spirit of our senior community members.
A spokesperson for Bass Coast Shire Council said the council was delighted to showcase the remarkable enthusiasm of our local community groups who have curated over 30 incredible events and activities.
“These offerings provide opportunities to embark on new adventures or rekindle long-held passions,” they said.
One of the standout events is "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Just the Piano Player," featuring the talented Australian pianist, David Scheel as the successor of the legendary Victor Borge.
This hilarious send-up of classical music has received acclaim worldwide and promises an unforgettable experience.
“Council has contributed to the show fee to ensure tickets are accessible to the community at the cost of $10,” said the spokesperson.
“Join us on Thursday, October 26 at 11am at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre (WUCAC) for this remarkable performance and post-show morning tea.
“Whether you’re enticed by the allure of a history walk, captivated by the world of literature during a book talk, curious to try your hand at bocce, ballet, or croquet, or eager to master the art of crafting Italian Cristoli – October is the month to support your clubs across Bass Coast and give new things a go.”
To discover the full range of events and activities, pick up a program booklet from Wonthaggi Library, Inverloch Library, and Phillip Island Community & Learning Centre, as well as at any of the council’s Customer Service locations. Or view it online.
As an added bonus, Victorian Seniors Card holders can enjoy free public transport from Sunday, October 1 to Sunday, October 8 to participate in the statewide events.
