Beau chasing premiership and Paralympic dreams
This year is a big year for the Phillip Island Football Netball Club and coach Beau Vernon. It’s going for a third consecutive flag in 2021. Their mission starts this Sunday, with a triumphant return of football and netball on Phillip Island. ABC TV's 7.30 Report featured a segment on Beau on Wednesday night's program.

Phillip Island's football coach, Beau Vernon was featured last night on ABC's 7.30 Report, heralding the start of the 2021 season which kicks off on Easter Sunday.

The Club is going for the hat trick this year, with three consecutive premierships.

Beau previously also won a premiership as coach of Leongatha.

Last year, Beau achieved another milestone, hand cycling 100km around Newhaven as a fundraiser to support those with spinal cord injuries. The ride was the longest the 32-year-old quadriplegic athlete and disability advocate has achieved on the handcycle, and it took precisely five hours to complete.

After winning at the Australian Road Championships: para-cycling time trial titles in February, he is also hoping to one day represent Australia in the Paralympics.

You can view the episode online or on ABC iView.
