This weekend, Beau Vernon aims to cycle 100 kilometres for a very, very good cause.
Starting from the oval in Newhaven at 8am on Saturday (December 12), Beau plans to hand cycle around Phillip Island to raise $10,000 for the Robert Rose Foundation.
The epic trip is estimated to take over five hours, and Beau's friends and families will be with him every inch of the way.
Come out and cheer him on his way (starting at 8am from the soccer oval in Boys Home Road, Newhaven) or give him a wave or a cheer when you see him the road.
To support him on this incredible fundraising endeavour, please donate to the go fund me campaign.
Since injuring his spinal cord in a football accident, Beau has never let his injury define him. His achievements as a quadriplegic athlete continue to inspire everyone he meets, as does his work as a keynote speaker and disability advocate.
Of course, coaching the Phillip Island Bulldogs to dual premiership has inspired a few people as well.
The Robert Rose Foundation supports people with spinal cord injuries and the broader disability community, providing equipment, mental health support and encouragement to participate in work and sport.
Beau embodies the Robert Rose Foundation ethos of the importance of empowerment and participation through sport.
