There have been reports by the community of 'spalling' - where fragments of concrete break off a larger body and several cracks are visible in each pylon accessible by land at low tide. One crack over a metre-and-a-half long nears the width of a 50c piece in parts, with a small midden of shells nestled in its crevice.
