Budget delivers what matters, says Crugnale
The state budget includes funding for upgrades to San Remo Primary School. Jordan Crugnale, member for Bass, with San Remo Principal Karen Bowker and Year 6 students.

The government is getting on with delivering on its election promises for our community – investing in what matters for the people of Bass, said MP Jordan Crugnale.

“We haven’t wasted a day delivering the services and projects that matter to Victorians. With the Victorian Budget 2023/24, we’re getting on with doing what we said we’d do.”

Ms Crugnale highlighted the commitment to bring back the SEC, which she said would provide more renewable energy, lower power bills and reduced carbon emissions.

“It’ll also help create 59,000 jobs.”

She reiterated the importance of the free kinder program, saying because 90 per cent of a child’s brain developed before the age of five, early education has the most profound impact on how kids develop.

Ms Crugnale said as part of the government’s more than $2 billion investment in schools, the budget  included $6.7 million for Wonthaggi Primary School, and there was money to kickstart planning for the San Remo Primary School upgrade.

She also said the budget provided funding to start on Stage 2 of the Wonthaggi Hospital redevelopment.

“We’re getting on with the planning, development and early works for Wonthaggi Hospital’s Stage 2 - supporting local jobs, giving our healthcare worker the facilities, they deserve and ensuring local families can get the care they need, when they need it, close to home.”

Ms Crugnale said a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Leongatha will act as a ‘front door’ to the mental health and wellbeing system offering welcoming and inclusive spaces, staffed by qualified mental health professionals, including peer support workers to cater for the local community.

The government’s boat ramp funding would include $800,000 towards stage 2 of the Cowes Jetty expansion, with funding also for ramps and carparks at Lang Lang, Tooradin and Inverloch.

There was also $200,000 for an upgrade to the Corinella Fishing Clubhouse.
