Police are calling for community assistance after a string of burglaries on Phillip Island.
Senior Sergeant Andy O’Brien said there had been more than 10 robberies in the last two weeks, in Cowes West, Rhyll and the Cowes Industrial Estate.
Snr Sergeant O’Brien said thieves used bolt cutters to cut padlocks and break into factories in the Industrial Estate, stealing cash and tools. Cars in the factories were also broken into.
The residential burglaries had also been primarily of cash and smaller items.
He said any information from the public could be extremely beneficial at this stage.
“There are also a lot of houses vacant at the moment, so keep an eye out for anything unusual in your street. If you notice anything, report it straight away,” he said, adding noting down car registration or any other details was always useful.
Anyone with information on the recent burglaries is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au or call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
For urgent assistance, call Triple Zero (000).
