PINP will be burning two small piles of African Boxthorn on the Summerland Peninsula southern coastline today.

Burn off notification- 12pm Friday, April 22
At approximately 12pm today, after wildlife checks have been performed, they will be igniting two small piles of African Boxthorn stockpiled at the base of the cliff on the southern coastline of the Summerland Peninsula.

The Phillip Island Nature Parks has advised it will be conducting a burn off today and residents may see smoke in the area.

Last month Phillip Island Nature Parks rangers were conducting regular maintenance and removing a highly invasive species - African Boxthorn.

At approximately 12pm today, after wildlife checks have been performed, they will be igniting two small piles of African Boxthorn stockpiled at the base of the cliff on the southern coastline of the Summerland Peninsula.

The burn will be patrolled by staff for the duration and CFA and VicFire have been notified .

This burn will be extinguished at approximately 5pm when the high tide comes in and the area will be made safe before penguins are due to arrive home for the evening.
