Bass Coast Shire Council is inviting local businesses to have their say on the current and future needs of the local business community by completing the 2026 Business and Industry Survey - Have your say on Business in Bass Coast.
Council said the survey, which is conducted every two years, provides a valuable opportunity for businesses to reflect on their experiences, identify emerging challenges, and highlight where targeted support is needed most.
"The insights gathered help council understand business sentiment across Bass Coast, identify trends, and shape future initiatives that support a strong and resilient local economy," council stated, announcing the survey.
Feedback from previous surveys informed Council's business support programs, with business planning identified as the top training priority.
Marketing, grant writing, finance and financial management remained key areas of need, while emerging interest in artificial intelligence (AI) highlighted the importance of helping local businesses adapt to new technologies.
In response, Council delivered a targeted program of workshops and events featuring recognised experts, including finance and budgeting specialist Victoria Devine, AI expert Steven Sammartino, and the upcoming Elevate Marketing Dinner with Jessica Hatzis, co‑founder of cult skincare brand frank body.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead said the survey plays an important role in ensuring Council's business support efforts are informed by real-world experience.
"Our local businesses contribute so much to Bass Coast - not only to the economy, but to the identity, vibrancy and liveability of our towns and communities," Cr Halstead said.
"I encourage businesses of all sizes to take the time to complete the survey so we can better understand their experiences and continue building a strong local economy together."
The survey is open to all businesses operating within Bass Coast Shire and takes around 25 minutes to complete.
Businesses can take part confidentially, however, businesses that complete the survey and choose to provide their contact details will go into the draw to win one of two $100 gift vouchers to a local business.
The survey closes on May 31.
