Giving industry space to grow
1 min read

Bass Coast Shire Council is examining the challenges and opportunities facing industrial land use in the region.

Council said the shire has several designated industrial precincts, including those in Cowes, Grantville Newhaven, Inverloch, and Wonthaggi.

In a recent media release, the council said each of the industrial precincts in Bass Coast are unique and play different roles in the local economy with their own sets of challenges.

“With anticipated significant population growth in the shire, many existing businesses will require additional space to expand, while new businesses will also need land to establish themselves,” the release stated.

“The challenges faced by current operators and the areas in which they operate must be addressed.”

Council is now seeking feedback from industrial operators, business owners, and residents in the vicinity of these industrial precincts to understand the challenges they face.

It is also seeking input on potential solutions to enhance existing industrial precincts and encourage the development of additional industrial land or tenancies.

Mayor Clare Le Serve emphasised the importance of the precincts to our local economy.

"The pockets of industrial land across the shire provide services and employment that benefits our community.

“Like our town centres, we need to ensure they are supported to reach their full potential. I encourage our local businesses to have their say."
