The team at Melbourne Furnishing Co, David, Daniel, Talia and Kane provide expert advice and good old-fashioned service.

As well as home delivery, the store also offers the option to remove and dispose of old items.
Back in 1910, just as Wonthaggi was taking off as a coal mining town, Wonthaggi’s oldest family owned business opened their doors.
The Melbourne Furnishing Co has been handed down through four generations of the Abraham family, with Talia owning the business for the past 19 years.
In a town full of tents, it was Talia’s great grandfather, Samuel Abraham who opened the business in its current location at 119 Graham Street.
The business has seen some of the world’s most iconic events in history, surviving WW1, Spanish Flu, the Great Depression and WW2.
“It was COVID-19 that really tested the business, but the support from the locals got us through the tough times,” said Talia.
“A massive thank you to you all.
“While so many things have changed over the past 113 years, one thing still solidly remains … old-fashioned service!
“We all pride ourselves on our customer service, going above and beyond to try and help everyone,” Talia said.
The Melbourne Furnishing Co boasts a range of over 200 suppliers, making their options nearly limitless.
The team consisting of Daniel, Kane, David, and Talia, cover all areas from expert product knowledge in the shop, to skilled assembly and delivery options.
“We are very blessed to deal with some of Australia’s leading handmade furniture makers, allowing us to sit down with the customer and design their dream piece,” Talia explained.
“There’s no better feeling than a customer coming in and saying they have looked everywhere but can’t get a particular item.”
David agrees.
“We listen to their needs and sit down with them with a grey lead pencil, sketching out their own design. We quote it up with the supplier,” he said.
“Once we have the go-ahead, this sketch turns into a masterpiece that we deliver with a smile.
“Seeing an even bigger smile on the customer's face just warms the heart.”
The store also offers the option to remove and dispose of old items, “making way for your new and exciting piece,” said Kane.
Daniel steals the show with his alter ego “Little Timmy”, making many appearances on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/melbfurnco).
The team is never short of a laugh, making the whole shopping experience for a customer relaxed and comfortable.
“We don’t ever pressure anyone into sales because there’s no worse feeling.
“We believe that if we offer great service and competitive pricing, customers will want to shop with us,” Daniel said.
From Hampton, Scandinavian, Traditional, Retro, or Industrial, Melbourne Furnishing Co has options for everyone.
Items on the floor are ready for immediate delivery, and special orders are coming in quicker than ever before.
If you are in the process of building, take away one stress and lock in your furniture now.
“We have storage options so that when your house is ready, we can be out the front waiting to set up your items on the day you move in,” said Kane.
The Melbourne Furnishing Co has stood the test of time, well before the internet was around.
“Due to the sheer volume of suppliers that we have access to, it’s impossible to keep our whole range online and up to date,” said Talia.
“With so much customisation available, we cannot list your dream design. So come in and let’s go old school. Catalogues, coffee and a chat and we’ll get it just right for you.”
