Applications are open for the annual Tourism Mentoring Program to support new tourism professionals.
The program provides a fantastic opportunity for young tourism professionals or new entrants to the industry to participate in the Ken Hore Tourism Mentoring Program.
Kim Storey, General Manager at Destination Phillip Island who has been involved in the program since its creation, received mentoring from Ken Hore in her early tourism career years.
“Now in its ninth year, the program honours the contribution made by the late Ken Hore to the Phillip Island and Gippsland tourism industry,” said Kim.
It does so by providing a unique career development program that promotes skills and excellence in the tourism industry as well as extending tourism networks and providing a broader understanding of the industry.
“The program has provided mentorship for forty-nine participants over the past nine years and continues to provide fantastic opportunities,” said Kim.
The successful recipient receives 12 months of mentoring support and opportunities that include tickets to tourism forums and industry development programs, three familiarisation days – one held on Phillip Island, one in Gippsland, and one in Melbourne, as well as six once-a-month mentoring sessions with an assigned leader in the chosen area of the tourism industry.
The program is proudly delivered in partnership with Destination Phillip Island, Destination Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire Council.
Applications are now open until 5pm, February 17.
