C grade back in action
After a nice break for Christmas and New Year, the C Graders returned to action against MDU at Rhyll on Saturday.
The Sharks were sent into bat and Hodson opened with the prodigal son, Jonty Manning.
The lads got off to a flying start on the quick outfield, scoring freely.
Things came a bit unstuck when Jonty was caught behind for 5 and Hodson was run out for 23.
Francis hit some quality shots before he was caught for 8 and DiFalco settled into his innings, hitting a nice boundary before he was LBW for 6. Sharks 4/54.
Mani and Cleary got the team to drinks at 4/88.
Mani and Cleary built a superb partnership which included big hitting, great running between the wickets, pirouettes, laughter and entertainment.
The pair put on 70 before Mani was run out for 32.
Cleary and Parry came together and the “bash brothers“ continued the onslaught.
Cleary passed 50 and was caught on the fence for 61.
The Nature Parks were called in to remove koalas from the trees as Parry was launching balls into the woodlands.
Parry was bowled for 52 and Dale Robinson finished off the innings with a run a ball – 16 not out. Sharks 8/216.
After some top shelf tucker, the Sharks set about defending their score.
Jax Marshall and Steve Lock opened the bowling and Jax continued his brilliant form, knocking over the opener LBW.
Lock backed him up snagging a wicket when Robbo took a sharp catch at cover.
MDU dug in, and with two dangerous batters at the crease got to the drinks break 2/60.
Cleary came on and got a breakthrough when Jax Marshall took a magnificent outfield catch that changed the game.
Cleary then knocked over the opener, clean bowled and took another scalp when he took the off peg of the new batter.
Mani came on at the Cowes Road end and cleaned up the middle order.
Catches to Carville and Cleary, and a bowled, gave Mani three wickets to finish a great game for him.
Max Carville was subbed on to make sure the team finished the job, and they didn’t let Max down.
Hodson got his first ever wicket for PIDCC when Dale Robbo took his second catch.
The last wicket for MDU as they were bowled out for 110.
A big 106 run victory and a fantastic team performance.
Go Sharks.
