C Grade
Phillip Islander District Cricket Club hosted a T20 double header on Saturday at Rhyll Cricket Ground.
Green's keepers Kurt and Connor had the surface looking a treat and C grade was the first game against Wonthaggi.
The Sharks won the toss and elected to bat.
Francis and Hodson opened the batting and got off to a steady start.
Francis was skittled for 13, bringing Mani to the crease.
Mani was in the festive mood with his Santa beard looking sharp and was just settling into his innings when he scooped one up and was caught for two.
This brought the skipper to the crease.
When Hodson was caught on the boundary going for a big hook shot the Sharks were 3/39.
Carville and Cleary attempted to get things back on track and put on a 39-run partnership before Carville was stumped for 9.
Drew Fusinato came and went for three, bringing Dale Robinson to the crease.
Cleary brought up his half century with a towering six, to the delight of the crowd.
The chap whose car was hit by the six was not so delighted.
Robinson was lightning fast between the wickets, pushing the skipper and nearly lapping him, for every run.
Robinson was bowled in the last over and Lock was run out on the last ball.
The skipper was 66 not out, and the Sharks finished 7/118.
A quick change over and the Sharks headed into the field.
Lock and Marshall opened the bowling and young gun Jax Marshall continued his impressive form with a tight spell.
Wonthaggi got off to a solid start and as the Sharks through the ball around, the Sharks just couldn't get a breakthrough.
Wonthaggi powered on and passed the total in the 17th over without losing a wicket.
The pick of the bowlers was Jax Marshall 4 overs 0/25 and Dale Robinson 4 overs, 0/26.
Wishing all our C grade and PIDCC families a safe and joy filled festive season.
