Celebrating Mum!

Mother’s Day means so many different things to many of us as we continue to move into more diverse and less traditional definitions of what it is to be a mum.

It is a day of recognition and acknowledgement of the special person in your life who cares for and raises you to continue the journey in your own time. Oftentimes putting themselves quietly behind you but always supporting you.

I am blessed to be a mum, a step mum, a substitute mum, a fur baby mum and for this I am grateful.  When it comes to Mother’s Day for me, I am a “cup and a card” kind of mum.

I loved it when the kids were little and they would pile into the bedroom early on Mother’s Day with half cooked, half burnt toast and jam with a cup of coffee and orange juice – an incredible effort to be sure. I still have some of the paper flowers and other crafts they had made at school for the special day.
