March 3 is Clean Up Australia Day and across the area different community groups are hosting clean up events. If you’re able, please head out and lend a hand.
Koala clean
Friends of the Koalas are meeting at the intersection of Harbison and Coghlan roads at 10am for a clean-up in the area, which should take about two hours.
Gloves will be provided; wear sensible shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and bring water.

“Friends of the Koalas have been cleaning this area for over 25 years,” said Friends spokesperson Patsy Hunt.
“It will be interesting to see if the recently introduced container return scheme will lead to a reduction in the number of cans and bottles collected.”
Dog Association
The Phillip Island Bass Coast Dog Owners Association has organised clean up sessions at the local dog beaches at Cowes, Ventnor and Cape Woolamai. Check out the Association’s Facebook page for details on where and when to meet.
Scenic Estate
Friends of Scenic Estate is holding their annual litter collection from 10am – 12pm.
Red Rocks
The Red Rocks Saltwater Creek Coastcare group’s Clean Up Australia Day event is from 10am – 12pm at Red Rocks beach and surrounds.
Newhaven Oval
A clean up at the Newhaven Oval, from 9am – 11am. Meeting at the Phillip Island Soccer Club.
Smiths Beach
Meet at the Smiths Beach Foreshore at 9am for a clean-up of the area. The session runs until 3pm.
Tenby Point
Clean up on the Tenby Beach foreshore, meeting at Marine Parade from 10am.
Corinella
Meet at the Corinella Foreshore Rotunda (cnr Peters Street and The Esplanade) at 10am for a foreshore clean up until midday.
Kilcunda
A clean up of Kilcunda beach, meeting at the Kilcunda Foreshore rotunda (3569 Bass Highway) at 10am.
