Very cool grant: the Anglican parish received a $25,000 grant last year for air conditioning and other refurbishments.

Local community groups and not-for-profit organisations are invited to attend a Community Grants Information Night, hosted by the Community Bank branches of San Remo, Cowes and Grantville.

The information evening at the Phillip Island Bowls Club (40 Dunsmore Road, Cowes) starts at 6pm on Tuesday April 14.

Trish Madden from the Community Enterprise Foundation will guide attendees through the grants process and answer questions.

The session is designed to help community groups understand how the program works and how to prepare a strong application, ahead of the 2026 Community Grants Program that opens on May 1 and closes on May 31.

The Community Bank grants program has been a significant source of local funding for community organisations for many years.

The program began in 2007, when the first round of grants saw $35,196 returned to the community.

Since then, the program has grown enormously, thanks to the continued support of local customers who choose to bank with the Community Bank branches.

In 2025 alone, more than $433,337 was distributed through the grants program.

Among the highlights of last year was the $250,000 contribution to the Phillip Island Community Hospital to support the development of its oncology department, helping ensure local residents can access vital services closer to home.

Chair of San Remo District Financial Services Ltd, John Matthews, said the grants program demonstrates the unique benefits of the Community Bank model.

"Every time someone chooses to bank with one of our three Community Bank branches, they are helping to generate funds that are invested back into local community projects," John said.

"Banking is our job, but community is our purpose. The success of this program is only possible because of the wonderful support we receive from our local communities."

Anyone interested in applying for a grant is welcome to come along, and any enquiries can be sent to admin@srdfs.com.au.
