Ocean Reach Brewing has raised more than $22,000 for Free 3D Hands, through the sales of their Bionic West Coast IPA.
The money will help Mat Bowtell and his team at Free 3D Hands create bionic assistive devices.
Ocean Reach Brewing founder and head brewer, Simon Bismire said the support from the community and beer lovers for their Bionic Beer was truly overwhelming.
“We are so thankful for all the support we received from the Phillip Island community and from people across the country that bought beer from us, and got behind this very worthwhile cause.
“Through the help of our sponsors and supporters we were able to raise more than $22,000 – much more than we first anticipated,” said Simon.
Free 3D Hands founder Mat Bowtell said the goodwill and generosity of Ocean Reach Brewing had been an inspiration for the team.
“I hope that everyone who supported this feels a big part of our mission towards making assistive technology accessible to every person on the planet.
“We are so grateful for Ocean Reach’s kindness and generosity, and we would like to thank the community for supporting this wonderful initiative,” Mat said.
“This was so much more than a fundraiser for us – Ocean Reach has shown how businesses can connect with local charities to support the wider community.”
The Bionic West Coast IPA was launched on March 20, 2022, with an Open Day at the new Free 3D Hands factory in Newhaven.
The beer was sold online, at the taphouse in Thompson Avenue and through selected stockists.
Support from sponsors helped to make, pack, distribute and promote the beer.
Ocean Reach intends to do it all again in 2023 and raise even more to help Free 3D Hands.
