Bass Coast Shire Council is supporting National Volunteer Week (May 20-26) by offering micro-grants of up to $100 to help local community groups celebrate the amazing efforts of their volunteers.
Whether it's a morning tea, a sausage sizzle, a small gift, or promoting your group's thank you event, these micro-grants are designed to help make planning your thank you efforts that little bit easier.
Bass Coast has one of the highest volunteering rates in Victoria, with 18 per cent of adults actively volunteering - well above the state average of 13 per cent (ABS Census 2021).
From coaching junior sport to planting trees, delivering meals, and running community events, volunteers are the heart and soul of our region.
National Volunteer Week is Australia's largest annual celebration of volunteering; it highlights the important role of volunteers in our community and invites people not currently volunteering to give it a go. This year's theme is 'Connecting Communities' — highlighting how volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities.
Planning an event that's open to the rest of the community is a great way to say thank you and celebrate the spirit of volunteering.
If you're hosting an event during National Volunteer Week, don't forget to list it on Council's events page so the whole community can join in. Bass Coast Shire Council is excited to attend events where possible and celebrate the volunteers who make Bass Coast such a special place.
To be eligible for a micro-grant, applicants must be incorporated not-for-profit groups and cover any costs above the funding provided. The event or activity must take place during National Volunteer Week 2025.
Apply now and show your volunteers just how valued they are.
