The CWA Phillip Island Twilight Branch meet at night to allow women with families, those that work and simply those that want a night out to come together and enjoy the friendship and fun so sought after in our busy lives.
We try to have outings at weekends or in the evening to enable as many members as possible to attend. Recently we painted pottery and lunched during the school break so that our teacher members and juniors could participate.
Our members love to fundraise and actively support this; we try not to have too many of these as we don’t want our members to be overwhelmed.
Our three market days support the CWA Scone Challenge in March, and we have a Spring Market and Christmas Market to raise funds in support of women and children. Our members vote to distribute our profits after each fundraising effort.
We as a branch have a strong ethic to support those women and children most in need in our immediate community and in Victoria. We do this through the donations to CWA and relevant organisations.
Just before Christmas we were able to donate vouchers to families in need at the Early Learning Centre (ELC) in Cowes and a local primary school in Newhaven.
As we were leaving the ELC, the Manager, Karen Treppo followed us out with tears in her eyes, to say that she had just presented a Christmas card and gift voucher to a family, they were overwhelmed by our generosity and the difference it would make to their Christmas. How fortunate we are to be able to do this, whilst having such amazing fun and enjoying our friendship!
If you would like to come and meet us, we welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings, held at St John’s Church Hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm.
