CWA walks to support end to violence against women
1 min read

The CWA Phillip Island Twilight Branch walked with friends at Churchill Island on Friday November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

This day marks the beginning of the United Nations 16 days of Activism to end Violence against Women and Girls. A press release from UN Women on November 22 stated: “Women and girls are more at risk to be killed at home”.

Safe Steps encouraged organisations to register their walks to get the message across regional and rural Victoria.

By walking and wearing orange, CWA Victoria members showed support for victim survivors and helped send a message across Victoria that domestic and family violence and violence against women is never okay.

The colour orange represents a brighter future free from violence against women and girls. Next year the CWA Phillip Island Twilight Branch together with local CWA branches hopes to partner with Bass Coast Shire Council, local organisations and community groups to make this a day for Phillip Island to stand in solidarity and call an end to gender based violence.
