Get flower power at your wedding

Flowers can be tricky, especially when they're your wedding flowers and you want everyone to love them.

Corrie MacGregor from Morrie and Maisie Event Flowers has some advice on getting the flowers just right for your special day.

“Where to start? Most of us go to Pinterest or Instagram, find pictures we like, and essentially copy that palette. Which is a totally legit way to find your palette,” said Corrie.

“But I wanted to throw a couple of other ways at you – these could bring a unique personal twist to your wedding flowers!

“First – be the truest version of your relationship. What colours do you and your partner wear a lot of? What colours compliment you as a couple – are you bright bubbly extroverts? Whites and neutrals look great on everyone but are they really a reflection of you two?

“Ignore the seasons (this might be controversial!). But just because it's Autumn, it doesn't mean you have to have oranges, rusts and reds! Just like Winter doesn't necessarily mean deep dark burgundies, reds and greens. You will get lovely fresh seasonal flowers in all kinds of colour palettes, all year round, so follow your heart,” Corrie recommends.

“Don't be a slave to 'trends'. Do you really 100 pe cent love the colour trends shown on Instagram/Pinterest or is it just easier to follow the trends? You do you.

“My fall-back advice is ... pick colours that make you happy!

“Choose colours that surround you constantly and you enjoy being around. And if that's a crazy combo like bright yellow, blue and black (I've just plucked random colours here) then that's ok, we can still make them look beautiful!

“It just has to make you excited for your day! On a side note, if chunks of colour scare you, sometimes little pops of bright yellow, blue or black might be all we need.

“Once you've picked two or three of your favourite colours, I can help you choose two or three shoulder colours and we're off on our way to WOW!”
