Pretty in pink – breast cancer fundraiser

Yowza Wellbeing and Penny Lane Café in Cowes held a pink afternoon tea to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Mandy Ransom from Yowza not only helped organise the afternoon tea; she took on the “55-squats-a-day” challenge in March, signifying the 55 Australians that get diagnosed with breast cancer each day.

“The National Breast Cancer Foundation, which I am a speaker for, aims to get to zero deaths by 2030,” Mandy said.

The cause is a deeply personal one.

“Lisa, the owner of Penny Lane is currently fighting the cancer, and I am a survivor of breast cancer,” Mandy said.

“This is a cause very close to our hearts as there are many people touched by this cancer.”

The afternoon tea raised over $400, with Mandy raising over $750 through the squat challenge.

Lisa and Mandy intend to co-host more fundraising events throughout the year.
