Volunteer visitors needed for MS plus community visitors scheme

Do you have one hour per week to spare and would like to make a real difference to someone's life?

Some of our older community members experience increased isolation and loneliness, and this is where you can help.

The MS Plus Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is seeking volunteer visitors for their program across Bass Coast.

MS Plus CVS provides volunteer visitors to residents in aged care homes or their own home, who are socially isolated and whose quality of life would be improved by friendship and companionship.

Volunteers visit their older friend at a mutually convenient time.

This is a great volunteering role for busy people who want to make a difference to somebody's life.

We currently have people who are registered with the program, waiting for someone to visit them and provide them with friendship.

Community visitors and their recipient can:

  • Chat and share stories over a cup of tea.
  • Read or listen to a book.
  • Share a hobby, interest, or activity.
  • Take a walk or go on an outing.
  • Enjoy a TV show together.
  • Take a pet or child to their visit.

This program is rewarding for not only the person receiving visits, but our Community Visitors, too.

MS Plus has been providing the Community Visitors Scheme since 1992.

Please note that recipients of the program do not necessarily have Multiple Sclerosis; we are an organisation simply government funded to provide the program to any aged care facility residents and people with a home care package.
