Wear orange to thank our SES volunteers

It’s Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) Day on 18th May; a day to say “thank you” to our Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) volunteers.

VICSES Gippsland volunteers responded to more than 5800 calls for help in the last twelve months, providing assistance with more than 2800 downed trees, nearly 500 damaged buildings and more than 160 road rescues.

During the busiest year in VICSES history, SES volunteers supported local communities throughout Gippsland during flood, storm, landslide, road rescue, search and rescue events. That’s why

Victorians are being asked to wear a splash of orange on WOW Day as a show of thanks, for the invaluable contribution this fantastic volunteers have made to our state.

Landmarks across the region will be ‘flooded’ in orange in celebration of WOW Day. Events and morning teas will also be held throughout the region.

Phillip Island and San Remo SES volunteers work tirelessly, around the clock, to protect and support the local community in its time of need. Wearing orange and supporting WOW Day is one small way to acknowledge their incredible contribution.

And if you'd like to do even more, both brigades are looking to take on keen new volunteers.

So wear a splash of orange on Wednesday to support our SES volunteers, and look out for the hashtag #ThankYouSES and #WOWday.
