Concept for Graydens out for comment
Drop in sessions will be held this week on Thursday, August 8, at 1pm and 3pm at the reserve.
A draft concept design for Graydens Reserve in Newhaven has been released and Bass Coast Shire Council is asking for community feedback on the plan.
Drop in sessions will be held this week on Thursday, August 8, at 1pm and 3pm at the reserve.
Council said the draft concept was based on feedback from earlier consultation when it asked the community for their thoughts on what the future of Graydens Reserve could look like.
"The design brings together a large amount of community consultation," Bass Coast Mayor Cr Clare Le Serve explained.
"The key themes we heard from our community include the desire to keep all the trees and maintain the open green space within the Reserve.
"Graydens Reserve is known for being a popular place for families and friends to gather and socialise. It was important for the design to appeal and be suitable for all age groups," Cr Le Serve said.
With this in mind, the draft concept design includes:
- Accessible pathways with seating and picnic table
- A relocated playspace which includes a nature-based theme with climbing elements and a basket swing while making the most of natural shade
- Additional trees and gardens
- A small beginner-level skate park
- The addition of netball and soccer goals onto the existing basketball half-court.
The design also takes into account the future plans of Regional Roads Victoria for Phillip Island Road.
There are a range of ways you can share your feedback including a survey and drop-in sessions. To fill out the survey visit engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au/graydensreserve
Information sessions will be held at the Reserve on Thursday, August 8 from 1pm to 2pm and 3pm to 4pm.
Community members are invited to come along, view the concept design and have a chat with officers.
Consultation closes on Friday, August 30.
