A special New Year’s Eve Labyrinth Walk will be held in San Remo from 8pm on December 31.

Organisers are inviting the community to join the walk and “reflect on your past year and contemplate your personal and community journey in the year ahead”.

“Let's celebrate our Indigenous people who have cared for the land, waterways, and air for thousands of years—the oldest continuance culture on earth,” said Australian Labyrinth Network Inc. member, Lorraine Rodda.

The walk commences at 8pm and goes until 10.30pm.

This is a free, family-friendly event. BYO chair or rug and a torch.

The night includes an acknowledgement of Elders and people of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders present, plus a discussion on truth telling, and the Yoorrook Justice Commission's 46 recommendations for reform in criminal justice and child protection.

“Joanne Cashman, a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator, will introduce walkers to a simple technique of mind-heart-emotion balance that can be life-changing,” said Lorraine.

“It can also be inspirational and transformative when walking with a specific intention. Each person will be able to experience a soundscape from her Tibetan Singing Bowl before entering the labyrinth path, then the sounds of the natural world will accompany the walkers for the remainder of their walk.”

After the walk, people will have time to share their experience with others (optional)

Directions: Drive down Back Beach Road, San Remo, then continue on the unmade road, past the Lions Children's Park and Picnic Ground. The Labyrinth is on the right, alongside a row of Cypress Trees. Car parking is available. The Bass Coast Shire Council maintains the Labyrinth.
