“Unlike previous years, 2023 is set to commence with a lot more certainty now Covid restrictions have eased. It will be wonderful for students, staff and parents to mix freely,” said Principal Rodney McKenzie.
The incoming Prep cohort will be supported to maximise the success of their schooling journey with small class sizes of just 15.
The low numbers will ensure there is plenty of opportunity for personal attention and additional instruction as these students establish their foundational skills.
The school's strategic staffing plan has ensured no vacancies have been left unfilled like many schools across Victoria.
The school is set to welcome eight new teaching and education support staff this year. Students will also be supported by an extensive team of professionals including a full-time speech pathologist, full-time wellbeing teacher and learning tutors.
Facility upgrades include new shade sail areas to support outdoor learning and a GAGA pit which was an initiative of the student council.
The school facilities have been heavily utilised over the break and Vic Swim have successfully taught a large number of young swimmers to strengthen their water skills as part of their three-week program in the school pool.
This year Christine Wickes will be taking an extended period of long service leave and we wish her an enjoyable break after a significant period of service to Cowes Primary School which has exceeded 40 years.
