Cowes to Rhyll trail proposal to become reality
Four years ago in 2018 The Cowes East Foreshore Erosion Action Group described this 300 metre section of the beach at Silverleaves as the “missing link” in a proposed beach front pathway that would connect the Cowes pier to Rhyll, and appealed for local, state and federal government help and funding to achieve this. The area pictured here was once a council owned road reserve, donated by the Church family, before it was washed away by erosion. Reinstatement of this 300 metre section of foreshore, washed into the sea over the last five decades, would enable a pathway extension on to Coghlan Road, then through the Silverleaves foreshore, into Conservation Hill, and onto Observation Point, council was told by the Action Group. Four years later, work on a rock wall to facilitate this amazing proposal is set to commence this month.
