Cut your hot water bill: free community session
Totally Renewable Phillip Island (TRPI) is hosting a free information Cut Your Electricity Bill by 40 per cent on June 13, 10am - 12:30 pm at the ANZAC Room, Phillip Island RSL.

Totally Renewable Phillip Island (TRPI) is hosting a free information session on heat pump hot water systems and interest-free green loans on Saturday June 13.

Households could be paying far more than necessary to heat their water - and the free community session will explain exactly what to do about it.

TRPI is hosting Cut Your Electricity Bill by 40 per cent on June 13, 10am - 12:30 pm at the ANZAC Room, Phillip Island RSL.

"Hot water is one of the biggest energy costs in any home, accounting for up to 40 per cent of a typical household electricity bill," a TRPI spokesperson said.

"Heat pump hot water systems use the same technology as a reverse-cycle air conditioner to heat water far more efficiently than a conventional electric system - using up to 70 per cent less electricity in the process."

The session will cover:

*How heat pump hot water systems work and why they significantly reduce electricity bills

*Who they suit - renters and owners aside, they are particularly worthwhile for homeowners and landlords managing ongoing energy costs across one or more properties

*Federal Government Green Loans - what they are, how they work, and how to access one with no money upfront.

A Federal Government Green Loan is an interest-free loan available to eligible households to cover the upfront cost of energy-efficient upgrades, including heat pump hot water systems.

"Rather than paying a large sum at installation, households repay the loan over time - interest free - meaning the energy bill savings can start covering the cost from day one," the spokesperson said.

"For landlords, this makes upgrades to rental properties far more financially straightforward and can support better outcomes for tenants facing high energy costs."

Attendees are encouraged to bring their most recent electricity bill - this will help make the session as relevant and practical as possible.

Entry is free. No prior knowledge required.
