The Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo welcomed two visitors from East Timor to their club last month.
Brother Adriano and his associate, Eugenio from Don Bosco school in Dili, Timor L’Este visited the club to thank members for the generosity shown to the villagers in Dili region.
Adriano and Eugenio coordinate the installation of the water units supplied by the Rotary club, which provide clean, filtrated drinking water to thousands of children in villages in the region where once only dirty water was available.
“The reduction in disease and the increase in hygiene are proving to be life changing for these villagers,” said Rotary president Peter Buitenhuis.
Adriano and Eugenio brought gifts of hand woven scarves and Timorese coffee for the members.
The units cost the club $6000 each and once installed have a service free period of 10 years providing potentially 1000 litres of clean water per hour.
