This Sunday, June 15 the Phillip Island Jazz Club presents Graeme Pender Grenadilla Wood, at the Phillip Island Bowling Club, in Cowes, from 2pm.
The name Grenadilla Wood comes from the Grenadilla Wood (Dalbergia Melanoxylon) from Mozambique.
This type of wood has been used since the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century and is quite possibly the most popular wood used in the making of clarinets.
"During last year's visit, Ashton Vas played the clarinet and boy was he great," said a club spokesperson.
"We are hoping that Ashton will play the clarinet in June for a couple of tunes."
Performing in Grendilla Wood are Graeme Pender on clarinet, Frank Carter on trombone, Peter Hooper on banjo, Peter McIntyre on sousaphone and Graham Michel on drums and the very talented Ashton Vaz on piano.
"It will be great to see Aston performing once again.
"We recommend you book early if possible, which gives us an idea on how many tables and chairs we need for the day."
Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for visitors.
Sunday June 15, Phillip Island Bowling Club, 40 Dunsmore Road, 2pm - 4.30pm.
