It was with much excitement that Newhaven College welcomed parents and guardians back to the school grounds for a social gathering on the first Friday of term.
Those in attendance were serenaded by Newhaven College’s new piano and voice tutor, Elly Poletti supported by music teacher David Prideaux on guitar.
The scene was set for a great evening. College staff served drinks and canapes for around 200 guests, consisting of new and existing parents/guardians, college staff and teachers.
The event provided the perfect opportunity to highlight the new Performing Arts Centre as an incredible venue for the school and the wider community
With the box office, drinks servery, great acoustics, plenty of parking and room to roam around and mingle, the foyer at the Performing Arts Centre provided an excellent location for the event.
Principal Tony Corr welcomed all new and existing parents, guardians, staff and teachers to the new year at Newhaven College and said the college hoped to host similar events throughout the year.
Parents are encouraged to participate in a new Parents and Friends Association to be established soon.
1997 Alumni Mat Bowtell, from Free 3D Hands, enjoyed the evening,
“It was so nice having a good chat with Rob Turton, who was my guitar teacher, talking about all things musical for the first time in 28 years,” he said.
“It was also lovely catching up and reminiscing with Karen Milkins-Hendry and Geoff White, and meeting some of the new parents.
“Thanks to all of the staff for attending after hours and making it such a special evening.”
Newhaven College thanks everyone who attended and made it a night to remember.
