Enjoy a fabulous show day at Foster

The 2026 Foster Show is fast approaching on Saturday February 28 at the Foster Showgrounds.

In addition to their regular show day favourites, the show will host the 30th Annual International Back to Back Wool Challenge – two teams will race against the clock to spin and knit the wool shorn from the sheep’s back into an adult sized jumper.

Will the Koorooman Sapphire Ewes better their 2025 time of 11 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds? Come along to cheer them on, help them raise funds for Rare Cancers and see some rare skills including blade shearing in action.

The sheep and wool theme will be carried throughout the show, being the focus of classes in craft, cooking, art and photography.

Additional new competitions include “Is It Cake?” where competitors give their best attempt at making an everyday item out of edible materials, and creative writing/poetry.

Entries for photography close this Friday February 20 at 5pm (USB delivered to Paragreen Real Estate) and on Wednesday February 25 for other exhibit shed and stadium classes.

There’s plenty of competition on offer for those that want the chance to win but don’t want to commit to pre-entry.

This year the show continues to offer the Dog High Jump, Mullet and Fashions competitions, Sheaftossing and Spouse Shout as well as welcoming back the Gumboot Toss.

You can still be in the running to be a show winner without exerting any effort by naming a racing ferret ($50 per ferret with your chance to win $500 if yours wins the Cup!), entering the show day raffle or bidding in the silent auction for a beautiful handmade wood table.

You don’t need to spend lots to have a great day at the show – adults can enter for $15 (purchased online) and kids under 12 years old enter free.

There are so many included attractions including the crowd favourite woodchopping competition, whipcracking demos and workshops with Australian champion Emiliqua East.

There’s also music and dancing with the Animals of the Magical Mountains, working dog trial run by Beloka Kelpies and a huge variety of competitions including a cat show, giant pumpkins, horses, calf classic and poultry.

Free showbag trail, facepainting, wildlife display, craft and cake decorating, lego building, animal nursery and Young Farmers games will ensure a great day out for kids of all ages.
