A passion for clay
1 min read

Artist and ceramicist Jenni Bradley is eager to share her passion for clay with others, offering regular classes from her studio.

JB Pottery is based in Cowes and holds hand building and pottery wheel classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Jenni's passion for clay has spanned decades.

"I originally discovered my love for this medium as an exchange student in the suburbs of Chicago," Jenni said.

"My artistic journey has taken me across the globe, blending my creative pursuits with a career and qualifications in curation and public programs.

"I love that clay is tactile and transformative for anyone who touches it.

"I find joy in the unique process of creating bespoke pieces and my style is ever evolving with a continuous exploration using sgraffito, a process of carving the surface and infusing colour and texture into my work.

"Both hand building and wheel serve as my artist playgrounds, allowing me to express my creativity through their various processes."

Jenni honed her skills as a student at Randwick TAFE, graduating in Studio Ceramics I and ll, then attending many workshops with iconic pottery artists at the Canberra Potters' Society, National Art School, Tasmanian Ceramics Association, TasTAFE and Slow Clay Centre.

"My passion for clay has been shared through teaching clay, starting earlier in my career with classes for children and women in my home studios in the ACT and Tasmania," Jenni said.

"I expanded my teaching skills in a small private Melbourne studio followed by a larger studio in Sydney.

"Today, I find myself in my new sanctuary, JB Pottery studio, on this beautiful island, dedicated to practicing the art I adore - working with clay."

The studio is open on Tuesdays for hand building classes and Wednesdays for wheel classes.
