Felipe Baldomir, honorary islander, returns to the Westernport Hotel on June 9, to showcase his third album "Tides".
The coastal indie-folk singer/songwriter from Uruguay, South America is currently based in Byron Bay, but is frequently seen enjoying the waves of Phillip Island.
Felipe's music is described as a blend of Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd and Tash Sultana. His coastal sound travels from the folk world of open-tunings, harmonica and steady power beats, to an uplifting soundscape of groovy guitar riffs, loops, punchy saxophone runs, synth/keys and vocals.
Since arriving in Sydney in August 2018 he has converted a van into a rolling home and studio and has been performing all around the country. From busking in the streets, playing backyard shows he moved to supporting local musicians such as Kim Churchill, Jack Botts and The Dreggs. Felipe is now headlining sold out shows all around Australia and playing at iconic festivals such as Queenscliff Music Festival, Changing Tides Festival, Ocean Sounds, NYE On The Hill and Frankston Waterfront Festival, sharing the stage with Aussie legends like Xavier Rudd, Ziggy Alberts, Temper Trap, Boy and Bear and Dan Sultan.
From one campervan to another, in 2023 Felipe completed over 100 shows across Australia, Europe, the United Kingdom and South America.
In February, the independent artist released his third album "Tides" and to celebrate, Felipe is touring Australia, Europe, UK, South Africa, South America and Canada in 2024.
At the Westernport Hotel, Felipe will be joined by special guest Jordy Maxwell, in the final Victorian show of the tour, before it heads to NSW, QLD, SA and WA.
