On Easter Saturday morning, April 16, the Lions Club of Phillip Island and Cowes Mitre10 will be putting on a fund-raising BBQ to help defeat childhood cancer.
Part of the Australian Lions Biggest BBQ 2022, the BBQ will be held outside the Mitre10 store in Settlement Road on Easter Saturday morning from 9am.
Since 1996, Lions Australia has contributed over $12 million to childhood cancer research. This effort has helped the development of safer and more effective blood stem cell transplantation for leukaemia patients following chemotherapy, leading to shorter hospitalisation and more rapid recovery.
The battle against childhood cancer is not yet over. Funds raised by Lions Club of Phillip Island at this Easter BBQ will be used to support the best scientific and clinical childhood cancer research conducted right across Australia. Many of the other 1200 Lions Clubs across Australia will be running similar BBQs throughout 2022 to add their contribution to the fight against childhood cancer.
A particular target for the funds raised in 2022 is to contribute to leading research in Cancer Immunotherapy, focusing on supercharging the body’s natural defences to destroy cancer cells.
Mitre10 will of course be open for business as usual on Saturday with its range of quality hardware.
Lions Club of Phillip Island also welcome the assistance provided by Bakers Delight in Cowes for this battle against kids’ cancer.
