Legendary Australian band, Models play Archies Creek on Sunday February 18 in a show that is sure to delight fans.
The show is a continuation of the 2023 “40 years of Motion” tour, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of their breakthrough hit “I Hear Motion”.
Featuring Sean Kelly, Andrew Duffield, Mark Ferrie and Ash Davies, the band revisits the single, and the album “The Pleasure of your Company”, released in 1993.
“I Hear Motion” was the start of Models’ extraordinary chart run, which included eight Top 40 hits. The song was later featured in Yahoo Serious’ hit movie Young Einstein and in 2021 its timeless appeal was apparent when it appeared in the ABC TV series The Newsreader. And it is now the opening song in the new documentary Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story.
Their chart-topping run of hits included “I Hear Motion”, “Big On Love”, “Barbados” and “Out Of Mind Out Of Sight”.
Models have continued to record, recently releasing two EPs, GTK and MEMO. And live, the band pays tribute to the pop genius of James Freud, who died in 2010.
“We might go into hibernation occasionally – actually, quite a lot,” Sean Kelly says, “but we have never broken up.”
When they formed, Models were hailed as one of the most innovative and imaginative Australian bands.
As the authors of The 100 Best Australian Albums (which featured Models’ The Pleasure Of Your Company) stated: “Melbourne electronic outfit Models followed a distinctly perverse and disjointed course from the outset.”
Models are that rare breed of bands – one that has successfully straddled critical acclaim, cult appeal and commercial success. They were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010.
Models never go out of style.
